Granite Countertop Installation

Your granite countertop is secured to your cabinets with silicone caulk.

A countertop usually comes in sections that require seaming. Separate stone backsplashes, corners and extra long sections require seaming. These seams do not completely disappear, but the resultant line is a negligible one sixteenth of an inch. It is filled with polyester adhesive, which cures to a hard shiny state. Seaming does not affect the performance of the stone. The visibility of a seam is less obvious on dark stones with small uniform grain.

We ask that you clear the work area for the installers to carry the granite. Your cook top, special cook top vents, sink and faucet must be disconnected. Old countertops must be removed before installation day. There may be unfinished areas of your wall or cabinets that will be exposed by your new countertop. We do not finish these areas. We recommend that final wall preparations not be completed prior to countertop installation.

Fragile stone varieties or those with excessive fissuring or unsound veining may require a full support under the stone. If an undermount sink has been chosen, we will install a special support.

Cook tops, drop-in sinks and faucets will be placed for confirmation of fit. You can immediately reinstall your cook top and your drop-in sink. Undermount sinks require 24 hours to cure before plumbing hookup.

Granite countertop installation usually takes a half day. An adult must be present to make decision and approve all countertop details. A customer approval form will be provided which must be signed confirming your satisfaction with the materials and workmanship of the countertop.
